Diplomat Dumitru Socolan appointed Secretary General of Foreign Ministry
Dumitru Socolan was appointed today as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following Sergiu Mihov's appointment as Moldova's Ambassador to Japan.
“His appointment reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and promoting professionalism in the diplomatic service. We wish him every success in carrying out this important mandate,” the institution stated.
Dumitru Socolan is a career diplomat with over three decades of experience in the diplomatic service of the Republic of Moldova. Within the MFA, he has served as Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Portuguese Republic and to the Kingdom of Morocco, later as Secretary of State within the ministry, and more recently as Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Japan and to the Republic of Korea.
He has also held leadership positions in the international law and treaties, as well as mandates in consular service, including at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Frankfurt am Main.
