Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets new Ambassador of the Netherlands; EU integration developments on agenda
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has met new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Moldova Esselien van Eerten. The officials discussed the main priorities on the agenda of the Moldovan-Dutch relations and the progress made by the country in implementing the reforms undertaken as part of the European integration process.
Minister Mihai Popsoi expressed gratitude for the support provided to Moldova’s European path, including through initiatives aimed at strengthening the rule of law, reforming the justice system and enhancing resilience.
“We are grateful to the Netherlands for the support provided over the years, as well as for its development assistance and expertise. We continue to count on its support in advancing Moldova’s EU accession process. We are ready to open the next negotiation clusters and are fully committed to implementing the reforms,” Mihai Popsoi said.
The minister also emphasized Moldova’s interest in continuing cooperation in the areas of security, defense and combating disinformation.
For her part, Ambassador Esselien van Eerten confirmed her willingness to maintain dialogue and identify new areas of cooperation between Moldova and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, for the benefit of the citizens of both countries.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were established on July 10, 1992. To date, more than 20 bilateral treaties and agreements have been concluded between the two countries.
