Eligible voters in several localities in Moldova electing mayors today

Eligible voters in several localities in the Republic of Moldova are expected at the polls today to elect mayors. To this end, 13 polling stations have been opened at 7 AM and will close at 9 PM.

Thus, new local elections are organized for mayor in Călugăr commune, Fălești district, Chiperceni commune, Orhei district, Talmaza village, Ștefan-Vodă district, Boldurești commune, Nisporeni district and Tabani village, Briceni district, as well as elections for a new composition of Temeleuți village council, Florești district.

For mayor position, 23 candidates have been registered, 14 of whom are nominated by political parties, while another nine are running independently.

About 17,000 voters are expected at the polls.

In total, 16,747 ballots have been printed for the elections, of which 16,647 are in Romanian and 100 in Russian.

The elections will be monitored by 21 national observers accredited by the Central Election Commission (CEC).
