Parliament to hold closed-door hearings on cyberattack and compromise of data of 750,000 citizens

Parliament will hold closed-door hearings on Wednesday, November 4, to examine the circumstances surrounding the cyberattack and alleged compromise of personal data affecting approximately 750,000 citizens. The announcement was made today at the beginning of the plenary session by Lilian Carp, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Public Order.

Speaker Igor Grosu said that the committee members had unanimously decided to organize the hearings at the proposal of MP Lilian Carp.

According to Grosu, the hearings aim to clarify the circumstances under which the personal data may have been compromised and to identify the institution responsible for the incident.

The discussions will examine information regarding the alleged data leak, which may involve approximately 750,000 state identification numbers (IDNPs), as well as the responsibility of the institutions involved.
