The commissioning of the Vulcanesti–Chisinau power line and the progress of work on the Ungheni–Ungheni bridge are among the priorities of cooperation between Moldova and Romania. The topics have been discussed in Chisinau by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Romania’s Prime Minister, Luca-Alexandru Niculescu, on his first official visit since the inauguration of the new government in Bucharest.

“The immediate priorities are the commissioning of the Vulcanesti–Chisinau line and advancing work on the Ungheni–Ungheni bridge. We want energy to no longer be used as a political weapon and to achieve this, we must become more energy independent,” Igor Grosu wrote on social media.

The official said that the discussions had focused on joint projects that could improve the lives of citizens on both banks of the Prut River. Priorities also include the development of transport infrastructure, including the construction of more bridges over the Prut.

“At the same time, we need more bridges over the Prut and fewer borders between us,” the parliament speaker emphasized.

Igor Grosu reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between the two states and of cooperation in implementing joint projects.

“Bucharest can always count on Chișinău, just as we know that we can rely on Romania. We have a shared responsibility—to build stronger ties, more opportunities, and a better future for our citizens on both sides of the Prut,” Igor Grosu said.

Romania’s Prime Minister Luca Niculescu today is visiting Chisinau on his first official visit in his capacity as prime minister.
