Moldovan cabinet's spokesman says government modernizes Chisinau through concrete projects
Chisinau is the last city of Moldova without an approved budget. The government's spokesperson, Daniel Voda, has made statements to this effect. He noted that, while image campaigns were being conducted in Chisinau city hall, the government is modernizing the city through concrete projects – such as the European Courtyard, which brings safety and comfort to the courtyards of blocks of flats.
„We have also noticed a campaign by the municipality, stating that the work being done in the city is visible. Here, paraphrasing this campaign, I would like to mention that, unfortunately, it is not visible that the Chisinau city hall is interested in working towards approving a budget, being the last city of the country that has remained without an approved budget. Thanks to the government, Chisinau is being modernized through this example of concrete project at the community level, and this process will continue through the European Courtyard program,” said Daniel Voda.
Daniel Voda stressed that the social budget of the city hall had drastically decreased: from 622 million lei in 2023, to only 375 million lei in 2025.
On the other hand, the government intervened with action, providing an increase of 3.8 billion lei to the social assistance budget, compensations for 720,000 vulnerable families, including in Chisinau, and 2.69 billion lei dedicated to support in invoices till the end of 2025.
The government's spokesperson added that, in 2023, 1,200 personal assistants from the capital had been illegally dismissed or had their work hours reduced by the city hall. Under these conditions, the government supported them, compensated for months without salaries and took measures for their rehiring.
„Last winter, the Chisinau city hall did not provide any compensation for the cold season, even though they promised support during the campaign. The government intervened. Because Moldova can. And the government does,” emphasized Daniel Voda.
He said that the authorities would continue the Moldova Can information campaign, in order to inform citizens about the measures taken in support of the citizens.
„The Moldova Can campaign continues. We will tell the truth and bring facts to the surface. So that people can see and know what the cabinet is doing, including where local authorities have failed,” added the government’s spokesperson.
