Moldovan government's spokesman speaks on challenges orchestrated in Transnistrian region
The government of Moldova is keeping a close eye on recent developments in the Transnistrian region and is reacting cautiously to the wave of speculation and misinformation circulating in the public space. The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, has made statements to this effect.
"The Transnistrian subject has been inflamed recently, both internally and regionally. Numerous, sometimes contradictory, speculations are made by various public voices and this region is obviously being used in the context of destabilization actions against Moldova," Daniel Voda said.
He also said that the cabinet continued to act calmly and responsibly, considering the well-being of people on both banks of the Dniester.
"Last winter, the government's decisions avoided a humanitarian catastrophe and conflicts. Our priority stays this: peace, safety and the citizens' interests," Daniel Voda emphasized.
The government’s spokesman added that Prime Minister Dorin Recean had recently warned that "the Transnistrian region is being used by the Russian Federation as part of the plan to destabilize the country." According to Daniel Voda, the ways used include provocative statements by Tiraspol leaders, the exploitation of energy and social issues and the dissemination of misinformation in the national informational space.
"We will not be provoked. We will respond wisely and will continue to strengthen energy security, combat falsehoods and protect peace throughout the country," Daniel Voda added.
He urged citizens to consult only official sources for information related to the Transnistrian region.
