Romania, Moldova strengthen partnership for security, European integration

Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin and Romanian Ambassador to Moldova  Cristian-Leon Turcanu, at a meeting, have reaffirmed the firm commitment of the two states to advance common projects in the field of security, cross-border cooperation and rapprochement with the European Union.

Minister Misail-Nichitin emphasized the constant support provided by Romania to  Moldova, "support that is materialized in new equipment for the structures of the Interior Ministry (MAI), common security projects, cross-border initiatives and the extension of coordinated control at more border crossing points". The official noted MAI's openness to advance in police cooperation, Interreg programs, information exchange and improving integrated border management.

For his part, Ambassador Cristian-Leon Turcanu congratulated Daniella Misail-Nichitin for being reaffirmed in her position as Interior Minister and highlighted Romania's essential role in supporting the European path of Moldova.

The diplomat said that he had discussed the continuation of multiple joint projects dedicated to both accelerating the European path of Moldova and the process of reform and institutional strengthening of the field of internal affairs, public order, and national security.
