The political processes in Bucharest are extremely important for Moldova, since the two states enjoy privileged relations. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has made statements to this effect exclusively for MOLDPRES. The official noted that it was quite important for Moldova that Romania continue to be that advocate and ally which always supports the country.

“We have always had the most fruitful possible relationship between the two banks of the Prut, which is why the political processes in Bucharest are extremely important for us. Moldova has privileged and strategic relations with Romania. We are firmly convinced that this will continue to be the case, so that Romania remains that advocate and ally which has always supported Moldova in good times and bad,” Mihai Popsoi stressed.

The motion of no confidence against the government led by Liberal Ilie Bolojan was adopted on by the Romanian parliament on May 5. In the evening, the President of Romania Nicusor Dan announced the start of negotiations to form a new government. The Romanian head of state ruled out the scenario of early elections and gave assurances that the new cabinet would be created within a “reasonable timeframe” and would be pro-Western.
