VIDEO // Governmental investments in Balti; Moldovan PM says ongoing projects mean better conditions for citizens, security in future
More development projects have been implemented in recent years with the support of the government in the Balti municipality, in order to improve people’s lives and create development opportunities in the northern region. The projects currently underway mean better conditions for citizens and greater security for the future. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who paid a visit to Balti today, has made statements to this effect.
The PM said that for him the city of Balti is more than just an important point on the country’s map – it is a place with a special personal significance and a history that speaks of education, work and dedication.
“I am today in Balti, a city to which I am connected through an extremely personal part of my family’s history. My mother was born here, and my grandparents also taught here. My grandmother Nina was a distinguished primary school teacher.
My grandfather, Gheorghe Rusu, was a mathematics teacher, respected by entire generations of students. They did a great deal for me as well. They were people who believed in education, discipline and the simple idea that the future of a society is built by dedicated people. For me personally, Balti is not just an important city in the north of the country. It is a city with memory, character and great potential,” said Alexandru Munteanu.
The prime minister noted that the northern area deserved modern infrastructure, quality services, and feasible projects. This is namely why the government is actively investing in the development of the region, the official said.
Thus, in education alone, in 2025 the schools of the municipality received modern equipment and books worth over 800,000 lei. In healthcare, over the past few years, more than 260 million lei has been invested in the Balti Clinical Hospital and other medical institutions, which has meant modern equipment, renovations, and better conditions for patients and doctors.
In infrastructure, more than 74 million lei has been allocated this year for roads. In the energy sector, over 1,800 families have received vouchers for energy-efficient household appliances.
“Balti is actually becoming a strategic point for the country’s energy independence. The 400 kV Balti–Suceava power line will be built here. This is an essential project that will connect us better to the European grid,” the prime minister emphasized.
According to the official, all these projects and investments mean better conditions for people and greater security for the future and for the prosperity of Moldova.
