Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today visited the European Town, opened on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) on the occasion of Europe Day 2026, when we celebrate together peace, unity and European values.

The PM greeted visitors, noting that for Moldova Europe is not just a political direction, but has become part of everyday life. Prime Minister Munteanu highlighted the concrete results of the partnership with the European Union: repaired roads in villages and cities, businesses that have been given the chance to grow, renovated schools, projects for young people, investments, jobs and opportunities for citizens.

“Beyond all this, Europe means something very simple: respect for people, respect for freedom, respect for work, respect for everyone’s right to live safely and with dignity in their own country,” the prime minister said in his address to visitors of the European Town.

“We choose the European path not because it is easy. We choose it because it is right. Because we want to build here, at home, a strong, modern state capable of giving people confidence in tomorrow,” the PM added.

At the same time, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stressed that today is also a day that reminds us how precious peace is: “We commemorate the people who lost their lives in the Second World War and, perhaps the most important lesson that history has left us is that peace must be defended every day, through unity, solidarity and the courage to remain on the side of freedom and justice.”

Today, starting at 1:00 p.m., the European Town has been open on the Great National Assembly Square – organized by the government of Moldova and the Delegation of the European Union.

Visitors can explore the stands of the government and ministries, where they will be informed about the transformation the country is undergoing: local public administration reform, progress on the path to European Union integration, as well as EU-supported initiatives to improve citizens’ lives. There are also exhibitions presenting the culture and traditions of EU member states. The day will end with a concert, which started at 19:00.
