About 70 guns voluntarily delivered within campaign on weapons's delivery in Moldova
Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - About 70 guns and more than 2,000 ammunitions have been voluntarily delivered since the beginning of a campaign titled, Time is Ripe Now, Deliver the Weapons!, launched by policemen in last October.
At the same time, following searches made by policemen, 32 smooth-bore guns and nine pneumatic guns were raised.
Also, law-enforcers carried out more that 400 activities of informing residents and distributed hundreds of informative folders.
The campaign will be carried out till 23 January and is aimed at encouraging people who illegally own weapons to voluntarily deliver them to the police.
More than 4,700 deteriorated fire guns, with unauthorized changes in constructions or adapted to commit offences, preserved illegally, found without owner, confiscated or voluntarily delivered, were removed from circulation in 2018.
Also, policemen counteracted 63 offences and 130 incidents committed with the use of illegally owned weapons. Also, 147 offences were noticed in terms of illegal bearing, preservation, purchasing and manufacturing of fire guns and ammunitions, within which about 800 illegally owned guns and 5,700 ammunitions were discovered and raised.
In Moldova, about 60,000 people own more than 71,000 guns, which are in the civil circulation.
