Moldova's National Army receives batch of assistance on behalf of North Atlantic Alliance
The National Army today received a batch of assistance on behalf of the North Atlantic Alliance through the Defense Capacity Building Initiative. The donation includes individual protective equipment, including helmets and protective suits against radioactive, chemical and biological agents, medical dummies, as well as computing equipment, transport units and furniture.
The individual protective equipment will be distributed in the units of the National Army, and the medical dummies will go to the Central Military Clinical Hospital, in order to be used by the personnel during training activities. At the same time, the equipment, technology and furniture meant for recruiters will be delivered to territorial military centers and administrative and military sections throughout the country, in order to modernize the working conditions of those responsible for recruiting and maintaining human resources in the National Army.
Present at the event, Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii highlighted the importance of the support for strengthening defense capabilities and the safety of the National Army’s personnel.
“The National Army soldiers will be better protected and equipped to fulfill their missions. The new batch of assistance received today aims to directly support this goal, providing better conditions for training and activity. Certainly, NATO is a partner that helps us concretely to maintain peace and stability, especially in these complicated times. I am glad that this partnership brings real results: a better-trained army means a safer environment for all citizens of Moldova,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
Assistant of the NATO Secretary General Boris Ruge said that Moldova had made “great progress in the process of transforming the defense institution, modernizing the Armed Forces, and enhancing resilience against new and complex threats.” “Your hard work makes Moldova safer, and NATO will continue to support you on this path,” declared the official.
The Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) is a NATO assistance platform joined by Moldova in 2015. Presently, the support package for the country includes 18 projects, aimed at endowing the National Army with modern equipment and technology and increasing institutional resilience against current challenges.
