Moldovan government approves compensation payments for public sector employees
The public sector employees with low salaries will receive compensation payments, as the minimum wage increases to 6,300 lei. The decision was approved by the government today and will be enforced as of January 1, 2026.
Thus, the draft proposes an increase in the amount of compensation payments from 5,500 lei to 6,300 lei. Specifically, if the monthly salary calculated for a position with a standard work time is below 6,300 lei for some employees in the budgetary units, they will receive compensation payments.
‘’This is a relatively simple draft. We are talking about compensation payments that will cover the difference up to the new minimum wage, which we have included in the state budget, from 5,500 lei to 6,300 lei. This is the main provision,’’ said Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilita at the cabinet meeting.
The provisions of the draft involve financial costs of about 293.4 million lei annually. These expenses have been included in the draft state budget law for 2026.
