Member of Judges' Evaluation Commission of Moldova concludes term
The term of the international member of the Judges’ Evaluation Commission, Scott Bales, will end on December 31, 2025, due to retirement. The application on the termination of the term has been submitted to parliament and will be examined according to legal procedures.
The head of the aforementioned Commission, Andrei Bivol, sent a message of gratitude, noting that Bales' withdrawal "reflects the significant impact he had on the Commission," highlighting his integrity, ability to provide stability and his role in creating the team.
"His most valuable legacy is found in the people he has trained and the professional standards he has set," Bivol said.
In a message to the team, Scott Bales said that he would follow the Commission's future activity and Moldova's path towards European Union accession with interest. Bales added that he wants to return to Moldova, being deeply impressed by the country and its people.
Scott Bales, former Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, has been active in the Commission since June 2023, during which time he held positions as a member and later as president. Throughout his term, the Commission has completed over 100 evaluations of judges, as well as candidates for positions in the judiciary and the Superior Council of Magistracy.
