The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations /IGSU/ received a specialized vehicle and two pumps for flood intervention on Monday. They are intended for Ocnița, Dondușeni and Soroca districts, as well as localities in Ukraine exposed to hydrological risk.

The donation was provided under the project WASSER – Support in mitigating the impact of war on water supply and sanitation in the Moldova-Ukraine border region. The official handover ceremony took place at the headquarters of Soroca Emergency Situations Directorate.

The delivered batch includes a specialized intervention vehicle for hard-to-reach areas and two medium-capacity pumps used for evacuating dirty water in case of floods. The total value of the donation is about 712,000 lei. According to IGSU, the equipment will contribute to strengthening the operational capacities of rescuers in situations of hydrological risk.

The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by GIZ in partnership with the State Chancellery, with German partners providing support for modernizing intervention services and increasing the resilience of vulnerable communities.

The WASSER program aims to develop cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the Dniester River basin area, facilitating common mechanisms for preparation and coordination in emergency situations. The beneficiaries of the project are Ocnița, Dondușeni and Soroca, as well as localities Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Yampil, and Sokireany in Ukraine.

The event comes in the context of the signing, on December 2, 2025, of the Memorandum of Understanding between IGSU and GIZ, which states the common commitment to strengthen response systems and water and sanitation infrastructure in the cross-border area.
