Moldovan capital's authorities set up 25 special lots for taxi parking
Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ – The authorities of Chisinau municipality have arranged 25 special lots for taxi parking. The announcement was made today by the acting mayor of Chisinau municipality, Ruslan Codreanu, following the meeting of the City Hall of Chisinau.
According to interim Mayor, initiative is part of a pilot project. "These areas will be for recreation of taxi drivers, so there will be special places and they will not stay on the curbs. The areas are to be marked in yellow and with a traffic sign indicating only stopping of taxi drivers. There is a risk that other cars may be parked in these sections, in which case police will apply fines. The initiative is a pilot stage as to see how it works. We believe that project is a good one, because it clearly indicates places where taxi drivers can stay," said Codreanu.
The head of transport unit, Vitalie Butucel, has said that initiative does not involve high costs, because only paint and corresponding indicators are needed for arrangement of areas. "All papers have already been drafted and submitted for implementation. We will already set up working programme, but project will certainly be executed soon," said Butucel.
The were identified 25 areas jointly with police. There will be arranged only five sections at pilot stage.
