Moldovan-Turkish College to be opened in administrative centre of Gagauzia
A Moldovan-Turkish College will be opened in Comrat (administrative centre of Gagauz autonomy), where about 100-125 students can be enrolled annually. The new institution will be endowed with all necessary study equipment and facilities, thanks to the support of the government of Turkey.
This is stipulated in the Protocol of cooperation in the field of vocational education between the governments of Moldova and Turkey, signed by Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun and his counterpart Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Education of Turkey.
At the institution, specialties in the fields of information technology, electric and electronic technologies will be launched. The language of teaching will be Romanian, but, with the agreement of both parties, certain subjects can be studied in Turkish or English.
The building of the college has been earlier previously constructed with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). According to the provisions of the signed protocol, the Turkish side will contribute to equipping the institution with furniture, modern equipment and laboratories necessary for carrying out the educational process, depending on the agreed specialties. Meanwhile, Turkey assumes responsibility for building a dormitory for the students.
The college will operate as a public institution of vocational education, and the Ministry of Education and Research will provide budget places for admission and will ensure the functionality of the institution.
