Orange wind warning // Moldovan General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations carries out 58 interventions, no victims reported
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) informs that, following adverse weather conditions characterized by strong winds, 58 intervention requests have been registered across the territory of Moldova.
According to data collected from territorial subdivisions, most interventions concerned fallen trees, broken branches and damaged roofs. Rescuers and firefighters were called to localities in the districts of Rezina, Calarasi, Dubasari, Straseni, Balti, Hancesti, as well as in the Chisinau municipality.
In more cases, tree branches fell onto vehicles, and fallen trees temporarily blocked access roads. In the capital, on 47 Gheorghe Asachi Street, a tree fell on power lines, and on 22 Salcâmilor Street, the strong wind damaged the roof of a warehouse. Similar incidents were reported in other localities across the country.
IGSU specifies that, despite the large number of interventions and the material damage recorded, no victims have been reported.
In the context, rescuers urge the population to exercise maximum caution during dangerous weather phenomena, to avoid walking under old trees, not to touch power lines that have fallen to the ground and to closely supervise their children.
In risk situations, citizens are asked to immediately call the 112 Service.
The Police of Moldova announce that, in the context of the orange warning of strong winds issued at national level, more incidents have been registered in Chisinau and in the country’s districts, including fallen trees, damaged roofs and temporary road traffic blockages.
The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued an orange warning for strong winds for 26 April 2026. According to forecasts, between 10:00 and 21:00, widespread intensifications of the north‑western wind are expected, with gusts of up to 19–24 m/s, and locally up to 26 m/s.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) warns the population about the increased risks of vegetation fires, falling trees and other dangerous situations, and provides a set of recommendations for preventing incidents. The authorities urge citizens to act responsibly and comply with safety measures.
