Orange wind alert // Possible flight delays, cancellations at Chisinau-based Eugen Doga Airport
The Chisinau International Airport Eugen Doga announces possible disruptions to air traffic, in the context of the orange alert for strong winds issued by the authorities. The airport’s representatives specify that, because of the unfavorable weather conditions, flight delays or even cancellations are possible.
Passengers are urged to constantly check the status of their flights on the airport's online information board, as well as the notifications sent by the airlines.
At the same time, travelers are advised to stay in direct contact with their air operators for updated information on any changes to schedules or routes.
The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued an orange alert for strong winds for April 26, 2026. According to forecasts, between 10:00 and 21:00, large areas will experience intensifications of north‑westerly winds, with gusts of up to 19–24 m/s, and locally even up to 26 m/s.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) warns the population about the increased risks of vegetation fires, falling trees and other dangerous situations and provides a set of recommendations to prevent incidents. The authorities urge citizens to act responsibly and to comply with safety measures.
Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder has assured that the responsible institutions were ready to intervene rapidly in the event of emergencies. The official said that the weather phenomenon was caused by a cold atmospheric front associated with a cyclone passing through the region, which will influence the weather conditions also on the following day.
