Moldovan president wishes success to singer Satoshi before Eurovision performance
President Maia Sandu today wished great success to singer Satoshi, who will represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The head of state emphasized that the performer would be supported both from home and from the Diaspora.
The first semifinal of the contest will take place on May 12, and the grand final will be held on May 16.
“I was glad to meet singer Satoshi today before his departure to Vienna, where he will represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song ‘Viva, Moldova!’. I wished him success and told him that we are looking forward to seeing him perform. I am pleased that he will carry forward the name of our country on this important international stage. We stand by him and keep our fingers crossed – from home and from the Diaspora,” said Maia Sandu.
Satoshi on April 28 also met ambassadors of the EU member states. The singer shared his emotions about Eurovision, as well as all nice friendships he has connected with people from across Europe during this year’s Eurovision promotional tour, confirming the contest’s motto: United by Music.
The year 2026 marks 70 years since the launch of Eurovision and 20 participations by Moldova. The best result achieved by the country in this contest was recorded in 2017, when SunStroke Project ranked third with the song, Hey Mamma.
