Orange Wind Warning // Moldovan capital's residents urged to avoid old trees, unnecessary walks

The Moldovan capital’s municipal authorities are calling on citizens to exercise increased caution in order to protect their lives and property. The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued an Orange Code warning for strong wind for today, valid between 09:00 and 21:00.

According to forecasts, wind gusts of up to 19–24 m/s are expected and in isolated areas - even up to 26 m/s.

Residents of Chisinau are urged to avoid moving near old trees and not to park their cars in areas where there is a risk of falling branches or trees.

At the same time, the population is advised to avoid non-essential walks during the warning period and parents are asked to supervise their minor children.

The capital’s authorities assure that specialized services are monitoring the situation and are ready to intervene in case of incidents caused by weather conditions.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) warns the population about the increased risks of vegetation fires, falling trees and other dangerous situations, and provides a set of recommendations to prevent incidents. Rescuers urge citizens to act responsibly and follow the recommended safety measures.
