Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office opens criminal file based on complaint by MP Stefan Gatcan
Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) on 2 July received a complaint by MP Stefan Gatcan on alleged pressures on behalf of certain persons, in order to prompt him to give up his lawmaker mandate. Based on the MP’s complaint, as well as on an approach by the Pro Moldova Party, PG today opened a criminal file, within which all circumstances of the case are to be established.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the criminal file was opened under the Article 274 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Prosecutors are to make a string of investigations, in order to decide if there is a reasonable suspicion in the actions of the people involved as to the constitutive elements of an offence.
The MP of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Stefan Gatcan, in early this week, informed that he was leaving the PSRM faction and joining the Pro Moldova group. On the next day, however, Gatcan filled in an application on giving up his mandate.
