PHOTO // Agreement signed in Bratislava: Moldovan citizens who worked officially in Slovakia to be able to receive pensions, other social benefits
Moldovan citizens who have worked officially in the Slovak Republic will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits from the state. Labour and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru and Marián Valentovič, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of Slovakia, signed the Social Security Agreement between the two countries in Bratislava today.
The agreement establishes a fair framework for guaranteeing social rights for people who have worked or are working legally on the territory of both countries. On this basis, citizens will be able to receive old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by a general illness, disability pensions and allowances resulting from a work accident or an occupational disease, as well as survivor’s pensions.
“Moldova is constantly stepping up its efforts to expand the number of bilateral agreements in the field of social security. Each agreement signed reflects our strong commitment to protect the rights of our citizens, wherever they may be. We will continue to build an increasingly comprehensive social protection system for the benefit of our citizens,” said Natalia Plugaru.
The agreement was signed during President Maia Sandu’s official visit to Bratislava.
Presently, Moldova has signed 22 social security agreements, 18 of which are already in force. In recent years, the Labour and Social Protection Ministry has concluded social agreements with Italy, Greece, Spain, Latvia, France, Switzerland, Canada and Ukraine.
