Police presents rsuggestions for keeping public order at protest in Chisinau
Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ – The representatives of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) have presented today several suggestions to citizens for the observance of public order and traffic safety during the protest that will take place on 26 August in the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in Chisinau.
At a press conference, representatives of the Public Security Department (DSP), National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) and Carabineer Troops (TC) urged citizens to protest peacefully.
"We are counting on a peaceful and secure protest. So, we should like to ask the citizens to respect certain rules. The police prohibits the protest participants coming with dangerous weapons or objects. If you identify persons with weapons in the crowd, please notify the police immediately. Similarly, it is strictly forbidden for persons to come to protest under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you notice such citizens, please notify the police. Also, we urge the ones which will protest with children, to take care of them and not not get them out of sight", said the representative of DSP, Daniel Mazepa.
At his turn, the head of General Department for Criminal Investigation, Grigore Moga, specified that law enforcement officials have initiated a criminal case for preparing mass disorder within protest. "In this case, some persons have already been summoned to police and will be heard as suspects. Similarly, many people have been identified on social networks that instigate to violence and mass disorder during the protest. Related to it, we will intervene to prevent disorder," said Moga.
Also today, the main organisers of the protest have been invited to police, which will be informed about the police activities and responsibility they bear in the peaceful development of event.
At the same time, the main specialist of the Road Traffic Monitoring Centre, Pavel Apostol, mentioned that during the action, there will be stopped circulation on several perimeters adjacent to PMAN. "The parking lots for cars coming from different districts of the country have been established beforehand. They will be located in different regions of Chisinau. Similarly, there will be handed out info leaflets for citizens", mentioned Apostol.
The law enforcement officials have also announced that a protective wall will be located adjacent to the Government building. Similarly, there will be located two tents, where doctors from MAI will provide assistance, if needed. Also, it will be provided water for citizens in those tents. There will be placed two sound machines around PMAN, so as to transmit social info to citizens.
When asked about the number of policemen to be involved within ensuring public order at the protest, the representatives of IGP said "a sufficient number as to ensure public security."
On 26 August, it will take a protest action more opposition parties in PMAN. On the same day, it will be held an Assembly in PMAN, led by activist Maia Laguta.
