Around 300 public institutions from Chisinau to benefit from modernization of district heating infrastructure

Around 300 public institutions from the Chisinau municipality will benefit from the modernization of the district heating infrastructure. Approximately 440 Individual Heating Points will be installed at these institutions. The investment is being made through the project, Sustainable Transition through Energy Efficiency in Moldova” (STEEM).

Director of the Energy Project Implementation Unit (UCIPE) Ruslan Surugiu said that the investment would help reduce energy consumption and create better conditions for institutions that provide essential public services for citizens.

General Director of Termoelectrica Iurie Razlovan noted that the installation of Individual Heating Points would allow better control of the parameters for supplying thermal energy and a more efficient adjustment of consumption to the needs of each building.

“This is an important step in modernizing the district heating system and in aligning the services provided by Termoelectrica with the real needs of consumers. Through these investments, we aim to ensure a more efficient, more flexible and more comfortable service for public institutions and for the people who use them,” said Iurie Razlovan.

In the context of implementing the project, UCIPE, in partnership with Termoelectrica, is holding information and consultation sessions during July 28-31, 2026, with representatives of municipal public institutions and of public institutions financed from the state budget that are to benefit from the investments.

The project, Sustainable Transition to Energy Efficiency in Moldova, is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Multi-Donor Trust Fund, Moldova – Growth, Resilience and Opportunities for Well-being (M-GROW), managed by the World Bank.
