PM, Ambassador of Romania discuss Moldovan-Romanian partnership, European path of Moldova
Moldovan-Romanian infrastructure and energy interconnection projects, the expansion of economic and trade cooperation, attraction of investments, as well as Romania’s support for the European path of Moldova have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu.
The PM thanked Romania for its constant contribution to the development of Moldova and for the support provided in such areas as energy, infrastructure, education, culture and local development. At the same time, the sides highlighted the importance of the economic relations between the two states. Romania is Moldova’s main trading partner, and in 2025, the bilateral trade reached approximately 3.9 billion euros, about 15 per cent more against the year before. At the same time, over 30 per cent of Moldova’s exports are directed to the Romanian market.
"Romania stays the closest strategic partner of Moldova. We want to bring our relationship to a new level, in which economic cooperation, investments and joint projects are as strong as our political partnership," said Prime Minister Vasile Tofan. He also said that his first official foreign visit would take place in Bucharest.
The officials also discussed the situation on the regional fuel market and possibilities for cooperation between Moldova and Romania to ensure the supply of diesel fuel.
