Chisinau Electrical Substation enters inspection stage ahead of energization

The acceptance committee for the Chisinau Electrical Substation has started inspecting the completed works, with the facility scheduled to be energized in stages, based on the programme presented by the Moldelectrica enterprise. The commission’s first meeting took place on October 28, 2026.

According to the Energy Ministry, the inspections covered electrical equipment, construction works, protection and communications systems, secondary circuits, and technical documentation. Representatives of Moldelectrica, UCIPE, GOPA, the Siemens–Electromontaj–Energotech consortium, the Energy Ministry and other authorities participated in the inspections.

Each energization stage will be preceded by an examination of the documentation and test results. The final acceptance of the works and the issuance of the completion certificate will be reviewed after the energization stages have been completed and compliance with all contractual requirements has been verified.

The Vulcanesti–Chisinau Power Line and the Vulcanesti Electrical Substation have been earlier were completed and accepted. The 400 kV overhead line is considered the most important investment in Moldova’s electricity transmission infrastructure in recent decades.

Once commissioned, the line will be able to carry more than 50 per cent of the country’s electricity consumption and will enable electricity imports from Romania and the European market, without transiting the MGRES energy hub (Kuchurgan power station) from the Transnistrian region. The project aims to strengthen Moldova’s energy security and independence.
