Euro, U.S. dollar slightly appreciate against Moldovan leu

The Moldovan leu continues to slightly depreciate against major international currencies. According to the official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) for January 5, 2026, the euro and the U.S. dollar have recorded price increases.

According to BNM's published data, the euro today is valued at 19.76 lei, up by 0.01 lei compared to the previous day. The U.S. dollar has increased by 0.04 lei, reaching 16.86 lei.

The Romanian leu has also registered a slight appreciation, set at 3.88 lei, with an increase of 0.01 lei. The Russian ruble is valued at 0.21 lei, more expensive by 0.01 lei, and the Ukrainian hryvnia is valued at 0.3984 lei.
