Otilia Dandara elected rector of Moldova State University

Otilia Dandara, PhD in Education Sciences, university professor, has been elected rector of Moldova State University (USM) following the election held on March 3, 2026, according to the Institutional Strategic Development Council (CDSI) of USM.

Candidate Otilia Dandara received 796 votes, followed by Florentin Paladi with 631 votes and Dumitru Dodul with 39 votes. A total of 1483 voters participated in the election, confirming a high level of involvement of the university community in the process of choosing the institution’s leadership. The results were announced by the president of CDSI, Sergiu Harea, who emphasized the broad engagement of the academic community in decision-making.

In accordance with the Regulations on the procedure for electing the rector of USM, Otilia Dandara was declared the winner of the elections and is to serve as rector for the next four years, with official confirmation to follow in line with the law and the university’s internal regulations.

Otilia Dandara is PhD in Education Sciences, university professor, and until recently held the position of first vice-rector/vice-rector for teaching and student affairs at Moldova State University, having more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic management. In her previous role, she coordinated teaching programs and university projects, contributing to institutional development and to improving students’ access to relevant educational services.
