Moldovan deputy PM in Brussels says Moldova-EU cooperation continues to be strengthened, with significant results in various fields

The cooperation between Moldova and the European Union continues to be strengthened, with important results in the field of exports, legislative alignment and the implementation of European standards. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu has made statements to this effect. In Brussels, he had a meeting with Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade and Economic Security at the European Commission.

The officials discussed Moldova’s progress in the trade sector.

Eugeniu Osmochescu emphasized that the progress achieved by Moldova on its European path contributed to attracting foreign investment and creating new jobs, thereby consolidating the sustainable economic development of the country.

"Through reforms and policies oriented toward the European market, the country is strengthening its status as a reliable partner in international trade chains," said the economy minister.

The European Union stays the main trade partner and investor in Moldova. Presently, about 68 per cent of Moldova’s exports go to the EU, and over 80 per cent of foreign direct investment in the economy also comes from the EU.
