Moldova’s digital progress, shared priorities discussed by deputy PM with European Commission’s Executive Vice-President

Moldova’s progress in the digital field and the shared priorities for the coming period have been discussed in Brussels at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu and Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy of the European Commission.

Deputy Prime Minister Osmochescu presented the progress made in developing the Digital Wallet, as part of efforts to align with European standards on electronic identity and digital public services.

At the same time, the official reiterated Moldova’s interest in becoming a member of the European Artificial Intelligence Board (AI Board), in order to actively participate in drafting European policies on artificial intelligence.

“Moldova’s integration into the Digital Single Market is advancing steadily, which is important for strengthening the economy, increasing competitiveness and bringing the country closer to the European Union,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu.

The economy minister thanked the European Commission for its support in implementing the Roam Like at Home initiative for Moldova. According to the official, the first months of implementation show encouraging results, both in terms of citizens’ usage and market adaptation.

Eugeniu Osmochescu also reaffirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to implement the EU Toolbox for strengthening the cyberspace, in line with the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan 2025–2027, through a gradual process aligned with European standards.
