High-level Moldova–United Arab Emirates call amid regional tensions
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Popșoi held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the context of escalating tensions in the Middle East. The discussion also addressed the situation of Moldovan citizens stranded in the region.
The talks focused on recent developments in the region, including missile attacks launched by Iran against the United Arab Emirates and other states, as well as their impact on regional security and stability. The situation led to the temporary closure of the airspace, affecting the travel of foreign nationals, including some Moldovan citizens present in the Emirates.
During the conversation, the Emirati official thanked Moldova for its solidarity and firm stance in support of maintaining regional stability, and emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts at regional and international levels to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
Popșoi gave priority to the situation of Moldovan citizens in the United Arab Emirates, requesting support to ensure their safety in the context of temporary air transport restrictions. The Emirati side expressed its readiness to provide full assistance in managing the situation.
At the end of the discussion, the two ministers reaffirmed their interest in maintaining active dialogue and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates.
