600 km of roads to be repaired or built by 2025
In 2025, 600 kilometers of local and regional roads will be repaired or built, with an unprecedented budget of 3.2 billion lei. The data were presented by President Maia Sandu, who emphasized that "these roads will better connect villages to cities and people to services, stimulating economic development".
According to the head of state, modernizing road infrastructure is a priority for the authorities.
"Wherever I go in the country, people tell me the same thing: 'We need better roads.' And I understand this need – good roads mean more safety and more development," said Maia Sandu.
The official mentioned that, in the last four years, over 760 kilometers of roads have been renovated, "more than in the entire previous decade."
"We started with the most important national routes, and now we are increasingly reaching smaller towns and villages. In 2025, we will repair or construct another 600 kilometers of local and regional roads, with an unprecedented budget of 3.2 billion lei – roads that will better connect villages to cities and people to services, stimulating economic development," Maia Sandu stated.
Currently, major road rehabilitation projects are underway, funded with the support of European international financial institutions, such as: Soroca-Otaci route, Hâncești-Leușeni or Hâncești-Leova-Cantemir, as well as the bypass roads of Vulcănești and Slobozia Mare localities.
