Moldova to appoint new ambassadors to Turkey and United States of America

The Republic of Moldova will appoint new ambassadors to the Republic of Turkey and the United States of America. The parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration today approved positive consultative opinions for the agreed candidacies.

Thus, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian, responsible for Reintegration, is to be appointed as ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Turkey. Vladislav Kulminski is to be appointed as ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi said that the appointment of the new ambassadors reflects Moldova's commitment to professional and well-prepared diplomacy.

“Both Mr. Oleg Serebrian and Mr. Vladislav Kulminski are professionals with extensive experience in foreign affairs and public policy. We have in front of us diplomats and experts with over two decades of activity, who have contributed to promoting the country's image on the international stage. I am convinced that they will substantially contribute to strengthening bilateral relations with Turkey and the United States of America, two strategic partnerships for our country,” emphasized Mihai Popșoi.

Oleg Serebrian is a career diplomat with the diplomatic rank of ambassador. He has been working in the public and diplomatic service of the Republic of Moldova for over three decades, holding both leadership positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and important diplomatic missions in Western Europe. He was the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to France and Germany, and since January 2022, he has served as Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.

For his diplomatic, academic, and literary activity, he was awarded the National Order Star of Romania, the National Order of Merit of France, the National Order Grand Cross of Merit of Germany, and national and international literary awards.

Vladislav Kulminski is an expert in foreign policy, conflict regulation, and strategic planning, with over 20 years of experience in leadership positions in public policy, public administration, and international development. He held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and earlier was a foreign policy and strategic planning advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.

He has worked with the UN, UNDP, World Bank, GIZ, and Humanitarian Dialogue, being involved in negotiation and mediation processes in Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and the Eurasian region. He participated in the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and contributed to reform, social cohesion, and peace-building programs. Previously, he was a political expert at the US and UK embassies in Moldova.

The proposed candidacies for the positions of ambassador are to be approved by government decision.
