Vetting // Several judges and legal candidates cleared of integrity issues
The Judges' Evaluation Commission found that a group of judges and representatives of legal professions, undergoing external evaluation, do not present integrity issues. After analyzing the information, the Commission did not identify any financial or ethical suspicions that require further clarification through the organization of a public hearing.
In accordance with the rules of organization and operation, the individuals involved were invited to participate in hearings. Among those notified are judges of the Northern and Southern Courts of Appeal, as well as candidates for vacant positions at the Central and Northern Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Justice.
According to legal regulations, invited people can choose whether or not to participate in the hearing. If they decide not to participate, they must submit an official statement confirming the accuracy and truthfulness of the information provided during the evaluation process, including those in completed ethics declarations and questionnaires.
Since the beginning of its activity, the Judges' Evaluation Commission has received files from 183 individuals, according to the three laws regulating the external evaluation process. 60 withdrew or resigned, and 4 previously passed the pre-vetting process. So far, the Commission has completed 70 evaluations, while another 49 are underway.
