Last bell in renovated courtyard of Cîrnățeni high school
Students of Grigore Grigoriu Theoretical High School in Cîrnățeni, Căușeni district, marked the end of the school year in a very special setting. The year-end assembly took place in a modernized courtyard, thanks to the support provided by the European Union through the Confidence-Building Measures program, implemented by UNDP.
The modernization of the school's courtyard was made possible by a total investment of nearly 119,000 euros, of which 93,000 euros were provided by the European Union, and 25,900 euros came from the local public administration.
'Investments in school infrastructure are essential to providing students with a learning-friendly environment. I congratulate the inhabitants of Cîrnățeni for this important achievement. I am convinced that the positive experiences from European projects will contribute to the sustainability of civic initiatives in our community,' mayor Oleg Savca said.
The school serves over 350 students and more than 40 teaching staff, including educators from the left bank of the Dniester. Starting in the spring of 2024, Cîrnățeni is one of the 12 communities on both banks of the Dniester benefiting from assistance for sustainable local development through the same European Union program.
The courtyard renovation initiative wasn't limited to institutional funds. The local community, including citizens from the diaspora, collected over 87,000 lei, funds that will be used for installing a new fence around the school's courtyard.
The Confidence-Building Measures program supports not only educational infrastructure but also skill development. Through the Education Platform, over 1,400 teaching staff from both sides of the Dniester improved their digital skills, contributing to the modernization of the educational process in the region.
This is not the first major investment in Grigore Grigoriu high school. In 2016, the institution benefited from the repair of the facade and the roof of block A, works carried out with support from the European Union through the same program implemented by UNDP.
