Moldovan energy minister says Energocom company continues purchases of gas in line with legal framework, in transparency conditions
The Energocom Company continues purchases of gas in accordance with the legal framework and under transparent conditions. Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu has made statements to this effect, in the context of public discussions regarding gas acquisitions for this year.
"We have noticed in recent days that the information space is disrupted by a string of insinuations regarding gas purchases for this year. I reiterate that Energocom continues its gas purchases according to the legal framework and under transparent conditions," said Dorin Junghietu.
The minister noted that the purchase price would not be made public before the completion of tenders, in order to protect the fairness of the bidding process and to not jeopardize the competitive advantage of Moldova.
"As long as the tenders are ongoing, to not undermine the process and to not expose the competitive advantage of these tenders to risk, the purchase price will not be made public. It will be published after the acquisitions are finished," noted Dorin Junghietu.
The official also said that the gas procurement tenders were conducted according to a price ceiling set by ANRE, and the procurement commission includes representatives from several institutions – including the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) and civil society, which rigorously monitor the compliance with rules and transparency.
Energocom has recently informed that, following several procurement procedures conducted in last April and May, the first volumes of natural gas had been purchased for the gas year 2025-2026, based on long-term contracts.
