Modernized roads' infrastructure in another 42 settlements of Moldova through Europe is Close Programme

Residents of 42 villages and towns will benefit from modernized roads’ infrastructure following the implementation of 28 new projects included in the Europe is Close Programme. These projects will rehabilitate 18.35 km of communal roads and streets, 6.77 km of pedestrian paths and access platforms to public institutions, and 1.42 km of local roads of district/municipal importance.

The financing contracts for the implementation of the projects today were signed  at the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL) by representatives of the beneficiary local public authorities and the acting director of ONDRL, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea.

Vladimir Bolea noted that these roads changed not only infrastructure, but also people’s lives and comfort.

“It is important that the works are carried out with high quality and that every leu is used properly and according to its purpose. We want as many settlements of the country as possible to benefit from modern and safe roads, and for this we will continue to ensure the implementation of all 579 projects selected under the Europe is Close Programme,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Bolea.

The 28 new projects are part of Lot III of the Europe is Close Programme, which includes 133 initiatives approved for financing by the National Council for the Coordination of Regional and Local Development. In early last December, contracts were signed for the first 61 projects in this lot.

Lot III of projects is added to the 220 initiatives launched in July 2025, so that the Europe is Close Programme now reaches 353 projects approved for financing, out of a total of 579 selected for implementation under the Programme.

All projects are included in the Single Programming Document for the period 2025–2027 and will be financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. The total value of the investments exceeds 2.6 billion lei.
