Investors can submit bids for construction of large wind power plants including storage systems
As of today, interested investors can submit their bids for the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW, which requires the installation of 44 MWh energy storage systems. The deadline for submitting bids is March 31.
The auction was officially launched through the publication of the announcement in the Official Journal and on the website of the Ministry of Energy. This is a first for the Republic of Moldova, due to the inclusion of the energy storage component.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the award criterion is the lowest price, compared to the cap price of 1.44 Moldovan lei/kWh, within the cumulative capacity limit of 170 MW. The selected projects will be implemented under the support scheme “fixed price / variable premium”.
Authorities' estimates indicate that the new auction will increase the share of energy from renewable sources by 5.8%, supporting the achievement of the national target of 30% energy from renewable sources by 2030.
At the same time, the new investments are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1.4 million tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual emissions generated by approximately 310,000 cars.
Bids can be submitted at the following email: wind.auctions@energie.gov.md. The auction documentation can be followed on the official website of the Ministry of Energy.
According to statistics, in the last five years, the Republic of Moldova has recorded an approximately twelvefold increase in installed renewable energy capacity.
