New member of Board of Directors of Deposit Guarantee Fund appointed today
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova today appointed Maia Pîrcălab as a member of the Board of Directors of the Deposit Guarantee Fund in the banking system for a five-year term.
Maia Pîrcălab’s candidacy was proposed by the National Bank of Moldova, after Ion Burlea’s term expired on 7 February 2026.
Maia Pîrcălab is a lawyer by profession and has been working at the BNM since 2017, heading the Regulation and Authorization Department.
According to the legislation, the Board of Directors of the Fund consists of five members, of whom two are proposed by the BNM. The members are appointed by Parliament through a decision adopted by a majority vote of the deputies present, and they have the role of managing and supervising the operation of the Fund, ensuring the protection of deposits in the banking system.
