Moldova’s fashion industry records quick growth: four local brands join international commerce platform

Four brands of Moldova have secured their presence on the international commerce platform Wolf & Badger. The list was presented by the Investment Agency, which emphasized that the presence of local brands on this renowned marketplace confirms the quick growth of the fashion industry in the country.

Wolf & Badger hosts more than 2,000 independent brands from around the world, creating a visionary global community based on long-standing principles of craftsmanship and artisan work. The commerce platform is B-Corp certified, reflecting its commitment to ethics, sustainability and transparency.

The marketplace provides online sales, physical stores in major cities, and an international audience interested in unique products. Designers who are part of the Wolf & Badger community benefit from global visibility without needing their own infrastructure, attract new clients, increase their sales and strengthen their brand credibility.

The local brand Julia Allert already enjoys a consolidated presence on the platform. In the last five years, the brand has evolved from a local workshop into a stable presence in international e-commerce. Presently, over 95 per cent of its creations are exported, while the brand continues to develop its identity at home, proving  that fashion made in Moldova can compete at the highest international level.

According to the brand’s founder, collaboration with the platform has amplified the label’s visibility globally and facilitated access to a community of buyers who value independent fashion, attention to detail and timeless pieces.

“The fact that the brand ranks in the top 10 best-selling on Wolf & Badger confirms not only the international relevance of creations made in Moldova, but also its strong positioning in the segment of high-quality independent design,” says Iulia, the brand’s founder.

The second local brand to reach the global commerce platform is Pearl Code. Launched in 2022, it focuses on creating modern and feminine jewelry. Each collection is built as a “jewelry capsule,” so that pieces can be worn in multiple contexts, from day-to-day outfits to special events.

“Being listed on Wolf & Badger is a strategic step toward internationalization, providing access to the UK and US markets, plus visibility in a premium community. It’s the platform where many creators have been discovered. W&B doesn’t choose just anyone and we know they carefully analyze a brand’s reputation before acceptance,” explain Mila Tomsa and Vicky Maxim, jewelry advisors for Pearl Code.

Another brand included on the renowned platform is Yulia Efros, which brings an aesthetic inspired by Romanian symbols and lines, reinterpreted in a contemporary way. “We set out to bring into the present symbols, materials and lines inspired by Romanian traditions, but in a modern form that is relevant internationally,” says Iulia Efros, founder of the label bearing her name.

“Being present on Wolf & Badger is a joy and a major validation, providing access to a global audience that values authenticity and quality. The first products listed on the platform are: the Cucutenian Dress, the Royal Blouse, and the Case Dress, already appreciated in the local market,” adds Iulia.

The fourth local brand listed globally is Georgette, created in 2010, whose philosophy is that every woman deserves to feel special. The cuts are designed to flatter the silhouette, and the materials are carefully chosen, so that each piece is timeless.

The access of Moldovan brands to Wolf & Badger reflects the development of the industry and the ability of Moldovan designers to create original products that are competitive internationally. The platform, known for supporting sustainable design, provides an ideal framework for brands seeking global visibility without high costs.

According to the Light Industry Employers’ Association (APIUS), the fashion ecosystem includes around 100 designers and companies with solid production capacities and their own-brand potential.

Local brands are present on international platforms, such as Wolf & Badger, Doors, NotJustALabel, JOOR and in stores in New York, Los Angeles, and Paris.

Italy is the primary export market for Moldova’s TAFL industry, where between 40–50 per cent of domestic production is exported annually, followed by Romania, Turkey, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom. Textile exports for 2024 generated revenue worth 20 million US dollars.
