Record passenger traffic at Chisinau Airport in last June: over 620,000 passengers
The Chisinau International Airport (CIA) recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic in June 2025, confirming the upward trend of the summer season. A total of 620,675 passengers were boarded and disembarked, representing 103.4 per cent of the estimated forecast and a 39.7-per cent increase compared to the same month of the 2024 year.
According to CIA, the total number of aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs) reached 4,560 and the volume of transported goods was 196.1 tons.
The most popular destinations were Antalya (20,652 passengers), Istanbul (15,720), Bucharest (10,369), Warsaw (8,286), Rome (6,683), London (6,350), Paris (5,949), Berlin (5,210), Sharm el Sheikh (5,104), and Prague (4,973).
Additionally, newly launched destinations in June 2025 registered 43,477 passengers, accounting for seven per cent of the total traffic. Among these destinations, there are Katowice, Dortmund, Alicante, Memmingen, Abu Dhabi, Palma de Mallorca, Nuremberg, Brussels (Charleroi), Thessaloniki, El Dabaa, Bremen, Manchester, Turin, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Lyon.
"This increase in air traffic highlights the growing interest of travelers in direct connections to major European cities, strengthening the position of the Chisinau International Airport as an important regional hub. We thank passengers and partners for their trust and aim to further expand the network of destinations and the services provided," the airport’s authorities say.
The Chisinau International Airport ranks among the top-performing airports in Europe in the 1 - 10 million passengers per year category. The growth is supported by the expansion of the route network and the number of airlines, which evolved from 20 in 2022 to 33 in 2024.
