Moldova marks 30 years since joining the Council of Europe. On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized an official ceremony during which the key achievements of this period, which contributed to strengthening democracy and the rule of law, were discussed.
At the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi said that, over the three decades of cooperation, the Council of Europe had supported Moldova in strengthening the democratic institutions and promoting European values.
‘’Among the key achievements, there are combating violence against women, corruption, human trafficking, hate speech and cybercrime. These 30 years of cooperation have represented a partnership for democracy, freedom, and justice,’’ Mihai Popsoi stressed.
Also, on the occasion of the anniversary, the stamp, Thirty Years Since Moldova’s Accession to the Council of Europe, was signed and launched along with the head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Falk Lange, and the interim manager of Moldova's Post state enterprise, Violeta Cojocaru.
Moldova became a member of the Council of Europe on July 13, 1995. The main goals of the institution are to strengthen democratic stability in Europe by supporting political, legislative and constitutional reforms.
