Moldova's Customs Service, Border Police implement measures to streamline cross-border traffic in summer season

Employees from the Customs Service and Border Police are operating in heightened mode and implementing a set of measures, in order to streamline cross-border traffic during the summer season. These actions are aimed at efficiently managing the flow of passengers and vehicles.

Continuous monitoring of passenger flow is taking place – data regarding waiting times and peak periods are being collected and analyzed constantly. Actions are synchronized between field teams and are permanently coordinated with border and customs authorities of Romania and Ukraine.

“The authorities have ordered an increase in control staff, while frontline officials are backed by the full mobilization of available resources. Also, infrastructure is being optimized, with additional control arteries being opened and, where necessary, the Reverse procedure is applied - redirecting traffic directions. At the same time, traffic flow separation is enforced – distinctly directing trucks, cars and buses, which helps in organizing traffic more efficiently,” the Customs Service said.

Moreover, to ensure efficient and comfortable crossing of the state border, the Customs Service and Border Police provide a string of recommendations for passengers. To minimize border crossing time, authorities recommend using all existing crossing points, in order to avoid overloading only a few of them and to prevent creation of queues.

“It's necessary to check the validity and status of the travel document used for crossing the state border. Additionally, you can consult the Online Traffic in Border Customs Posts application on the official website of the Customs Service, in order to know the real-time situation at border customs points,” communicated the Customs Service.

Also, the Customs Service's Single Call Center is operational 24/7 at the number: +373 22 78-88-88, and the Border Police Call Center at the number: + 373 22 259 717, where each citizen can receive consultation on the border situation, crossing rules and other public information.
