Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov announced the programme of the second Intergovernmental Conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which is taking place today in Luxembourg. The meeting will begin at 21:00 (Moldova time), when the delegations will participate in the conference’s plenary session.

According to Cristina Gherasimov, during the plenary session the European Union will present its common negotiating position towards the Republic of Moldova and will set out the standards that our country must meet in order to become a member state of the community bloc.

“Starting at 21:00, we enter the plenary of the Intergovernmental Conference, where the European Union will present its common negotiating position towards the candidate Republic of Moldova. Those European standards that we must achieve as a country will be presented, as well as the criteria that must be met for each chapter,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

After the conclusion of the Intergovernmental Conference, at around 21:30, the authorities will hold a press conference in which they will present the conclusions of the meeting and the next steps in the negotiation process.

In Luxembourg, the second Intergovernmental Conference Republic of Moldova – European Union is taking place, a meeting at which the official opening of the first EU accession negotiation cluster, entitled Fundamental Values is expected. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova is led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
