The first meeting of this year of the Joint Control Commission took place in the city of Bender on January 15, 2026.

The Delegation of Moldova asked to ensure free access through the unauthorized checkpoints located in Dubasari district for economic agents delivering food products, medicines and other essential goods to the villages of Cocieri, Molovata Noua, Corjova and other settlements placed on the left bank of the Dniester River. The notification was addressed to all components of the Commission in connection with the freezing of the river and the suspension of the ferry’s operation. The delegation members emphasized that the unhindered movement of people and goods through the Security Zone is a principle established by the Agreement signed on 21 July 1992.

During the working meeting, the Chisinau delegation raised the issue on the activity of the Commission’s Press Center and the updating of its composition.

The position of the Moldova’s Delegation was reiterated regarding unobstructed access for the press to the Commission’s activities, as well as concerning the removal of all barriers to the transparent application of the accreditation process for journalists from the right bank of Dniester, who intend to report on the situation in the Security Zone and on the work of the present peacekeeping mechanism.

No final decision on this subject was taken, with the Tiraspol representatives requesting time for consultations.
