Moldovan president meets delegation of Lithuanian parliament

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova

President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with a delegation of Lithuania’s parliament, on an official visit to Chișinău. The delegation includes MPs Remigijus Motuzas and Audronius Ažubalis, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as on the support provided to Moldova by Lithuania. The two parliamentarians reiterated the support of the Vilnius legislature for advancing the country’s accession process to the European Union, the path that Lithuania also followed 20 years ago.In the context of the four-year mark since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the sides also tackled the regional security and Ukraine’s remarkable resilience, as well as the importance of close cooperation among European states, in order to strengthen democratic resilience.

President Maia Sandu thanked the Lithuanian MPs for their consistent support, including at the European level. The interlocutors agreed to continue the political dialogue.
