GUAM can become important corridor linking Western and Central Europe with Central Asia and Caucasus
Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldova is firmly convinced of the development potential of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) and believes that the implementation of transport and infrastructure projects would transform GUAM's geographical space into an important connecting corridor between Western and Central European countries with the Central Asia and the Caucasus. Moldovan diplomat Tudor Ulianovschi made the statement at the GUAM Foreign Affairs Council meeting, which was held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
Ulianovschi also said that Moldova is advocating for early completion by all members of the Organization of the internal procedures necessary to set up free trade zone between the GUAM countries.
As the representative of the state holding the chairmanship of the Organization, Ulianovschi reviewed the activities organized so far by our country in cooperation with the GUAM Secretariat and the events that follow until the end of the year. In this context, he informed the members of the council about the agenda and issues of the meeting due in Chisinau on 5-6 October 2018.
The event covered a wide range of issues related to strengthening the political, interparliamentary and sectoral cooperation of the member states of the Organization, expanding cooperation with other organizations and states, as well as a number of organizational issues.
