Government approved budget amendment: 1,000 lei school aid for grades I-IX students
The cabinet of ministers has approved the budgetary changes by which all students in grades I-IX will receive a school aid of 1,000 lei in early September. In total, 300 million lei have been allocated for this purpose, according to the amendments to the state budget law for 2025.
“We support the school preparation process. This is a very important project, whereby 295 thousand children, who are enrolled for studies for 2025-2026, will benefit from one thousand lei each. I remind you that earlier this year, we extended Easter support to over 230 thousand children under the age of 5. Since 2021, we have doubled the amounts granted to support families in the Republic of Moldova. The support increased from 2.8 billion to 4.8 billion lei this year,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
Another adjustment is directed towards strengthening the reorganization capacities of Moldovan Railways and social support of the company's employees, for which 50 million lei have been earmarked.
An additional 50 million lei are provided for the Government's Intervention Fund, enabling the Government to address the consequences of potential emergency situations. Additionally, the budget adjustment involves fund redistributions based on necessities across various areas, including the renovation and outfitting of educational institution food blocks.
All mentioned allocations were proposed following the reassessment of state budget revenues and redistribution of expenditures.
